![]() In a nutshell, I'm the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. I did have a dental appointment and had several teeth removed, it is very important my fur-ever family has a dental appointment within a year so my teeth are not painful. I also have an enlarged heart, my foster mom can tell you more about it when we meet. Losing weight has been on my to-do list, and I'm doing great with it. Yes, I've got a few health concerns, but they don't slow me down one bit. As for toys, I might not be a player just yet, but I've got a knack for sneakily stealing one or two from my furry friends. ![]() Treats? Yes, please! I'm not picky I love them all. I might freeze or get a bit scared, but with some reassurance, I'm ready to give it my best shot. Walking on a leash is still a bit new to me. Plus, I'm an excellent potty-trained pup who prefers the great outdoors for my business. I'm crate-trained and happily hop in with just a few treats. I'm quite attached to my foster mom and get along well with my foster pup siblings, even if I'm not playing with them much yet. It takes me a moment to warm up, but once I do, get ready for some heart-melting moments. I'm a pro at stealing hearts with my cuddle sessions.Īround new people and places, I admit, I'm a bit timid. Nothing beats finding a cozy spot, resting my chin, and gazing up at you with my adorable brown eyes. Let's start with my favorite thing – cuddling. Please see our Frequently Asked Questions page for additional information. We will attempt to contact the breeder when a Sheltie is surrendered with breeder information. We obtain legal relinquishment forms (shelter release, owner surrender) and as much information related to temperament and health history as possible. Shelties from impound or shelters facing a questionable future are given highest priority, while families looking to surrender their dog may be asked to keep the dog until we have an available foster or adoptive home. When families are faced with surrendering their Sheltie, we assist in connecting them with resources that may allow them to keep the Sheltie or, when we have available foster homes, we can bring the dog into rescue. Shelties often do not present well in a shelter environment. We work with animal shelters that have Shelties in need, allowing them to provide a spot for another waiting dog. All dogs in our program are fully vetted prior to adoption, including spay/neuter, vaccinations, dental, microchip, and other veterinary care they may require. The dogs in our program live with families in temporary foster homes while they await adoption. We are an all-volunteer foster-based rescue. Since 2003, MNSR has assisted over 950 Shelties in need! ![]() Minnesota Sheltie Rescue (MNSR) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, non-profit organization.
